Johnson Matthey has Reclassified Its Catalytic Purifiers for Inert Gases and Hydrogen
West Chester, PA, October 26, 2011- Johnson Matthey has reclassified its PureGuardTM Catalytic Purifiers for inert gases and hydrogen. The purifiers are now considered a UN3190 (Division 4.2, Packing Group ll). These products are designed to deliver maximum performance removing impurities to less than one part per billion, purifying and filtering gas all in one unit while operating at room temperature.
This reclassification allows the purifiers to be shipped by air, as well as truck, rail and ship. PureGuard Catalytic Purifiers purify inert gases and hydrogen using high surface area adsorbant.
Their compact design, according to Jeff Lucht, business manager of Johnson Matthey's Gas Purification Technology (GPT) group, offers long lifetimes while delivering gas, helping to protect against upsets and insuring that the purest results are achieved, PureGuard Catalytic Purifiers are regenerable, which eliminates disposal issues to lower the cost of ownership.
Common applications include weld argon purge gas, silicon and compound semiconductor processes and calibration gas for analytical instrumentation.
Lucht said, as an integrated purifier and filter solution, PureGuard Catalytic Purifiers:
- Extend the life and reliability of gas systems and components.
- Enhance sensitivity and performance of analytical equipment.
- Protect against breakthrough in bulk gas purifier or impurity spike from liquid storage tanks.
- Ensure reproducible purity levels through consistent performance.
Johnson Matthey's GPT Catalytic Purifier Series, along with its Palladium and Getter purifier series, offer end users and OEMs a complete portfolio of gas purification solutions.
