| JOHNSON MATTHEY DELIVERS HIGH PRESSURE OXYGEN PURIFIER TO AIR PRODUCTS FACILITY IN KOREA
West Chester, PA, November 6, 2009 – Johnson Matthey’s Gas Purification Technology (GPT) group announced today that Air Products, Allentown, PA, a leading global supplier of high-purity gases, equipment, systems and services to the semiconductor industry, purchased a high pressure oxygen purifier for use at their Air Products Korea facility in Siheung, Korea. The purifier has been incorporated into their process to purify oxygen, prior to filling ultra-high purity gas cylinders, a growing market in the Asia/Pacific region.
The oxygen purifier is specifically- designed for use with pressures up to 2,500 psig, typical of cylinder-filling applications. The purifier includes a two-stage process using a combination of catalytic and adsorbtion processes. Impurity including CO, CO2, CH4, H2, and H20 are reduced to parts per billion (ppb) levels. Hydrocarbons (CH4), CO and H2 react at elevated temperatures with O2 in the oxidizing heated catalyst vessel to form CO2 and H2O which are then removed in the secondary stage adsorber vessels. The dual adsorber vessels operate at ambient temperature and alternate between purify and regeneration mode to provide continuous purification.
